This was a release that I hoped to have ready in time for the holidays and was to be a holiday gift. Things didn’t fall into place as quickly as I had originally hoped, so here you have it now, a couple months late. What you’ll find with this one is a “concept” album. At least a concept in as much as a compilation can be a concept. There’s an overlying theme... that of the Moon. There’s a loosely tied narrative that is held together through the use of public domain texts, video and... ( 2 reviews ) Topics: rock, electronic, pop, indie
blocSonic is quite proud to present to you the self-titled debut by Richmond, Virginia artist Friends or Whatever. With its fusion of shimmering electronica and a raw rock vibe, FoW proves to be a very engaging listen. At times quiet and contemplative… at other times beat-driven and laced with distorted guitar and melancholic vocals. All the while a bit challenging to put your finger on and yet it’s quickly familiar. It’s that very enigmatic nature that’s sure to pull you in. On a side... Are you ready to rock? I hope you are because today I’m excited to release the powerful debut EP, “Gryaznyj albom”/“The Dirty Album”, by the Russian band Vpopolam. They call their sound “anti-glamorous chanson-core”, a blend of funk, rock & grooves. At times the sound is reminiscent of Red Hot Chili Peppers and at other times, the sound’s hard to pin down. There’s one thing about it that’s very easy to pin down… these guys know how to make absolutely infectious music.... ( 2 reviews ) Topics: blocsonic, vpopolam, rock, maxbloc, russia, chanson-core

Back in 1995, Orie Weeks, Alex Remlinger, Dez Burke & Shawn Franklin (who you may know from The Scallions) formed Action Will Be Taken in response to the subdivisions and cliques that were then forming in the hardcore punk scene. They exploded onto their local scene, not caring about photos or press. They only wanted to write music, play shows and maybe release a 7 inch. Whenever they performed, they were always asked “where the fuck did you guys come from”?Influenced by the high energy... Topics: blocsonic, maxbloc, flac, mp3, ogg, hardcore, punk, rock, connecticut
After taking a much needed month off from releasing, we’re back with another fresh batch of netaudio gems. Even with the month off, it was a bit of a bumpy ride pulling this together. As the internet has increasingly become part of all our lives, an intellectual shift has been occurring. As this shift progresses, more of us are seeing the need for less limitations in many areas. In the early years of this shift, an “open-source” software movement took hold and hasn’t abated. According to Chinese philosophy two opposing forces, the yin and the yang, co-exist interdependently to make up universal existence. You cannot have one without the other. So it seems in many aspects of life that you cannot have the good without the bad and vice-versa. Life, death, love, hate, peace, war all intermingled in equilibrium. Hello again everyone. After a month off, I was eager to unleash volume 9 to the world. As the title suggests, it's focused on "lo-fi" offerings that the world of net audio has to offer. Lo-fi as a description for music is kind of vague and can include many genres. Personally, I define lo-fi as any music without slick production – music that can contain distorted samples or distortion itself applied to any number of song elements. In fact, distortion becomes an advantage in the... Topics: rock, pop, electronic, trip-hop, hip-hop

That eventually lead to me designing their SLAMjamz debut album “Agony Through Ceremony” in 2006. A year later I launched blocSonic and slowly molded it into the...
